One of Sir Edward Elgar's earlier works, My Love Dwelt in a Northern Land is an a cappella secular part song (SATB with divisis) setting to music the poem, Romance, by Andrew Lang. This very romantic, beautiful and lyrical song has been a part of the standard repertoire for every mixed choral group throughout the world. This new transcription for a small band gives any band or wind orchestra an opportunity to learn how to "sing" and ensemble a slow and delicate piece.
The complete instrumentation is best for this transcription; however, it can be performed with as few as 9 players (in bold). This transcription is also suitable for a medium sized or even large band.
Parts No. 20–34 are optional. No. 20–33 are transposed from the original parts which are indicated in brackets, with or without modification.
