Rimsky-Korsakov's popular orchestra work, Russian Easter Overture is a great concert overture that works well with a wind band. This transcription requires three piccolos; however, the 2nd and 3rd piccolos can be substituted with flutes by playing an octave higher. English horn and contrabassoon, not included in the original orchestra score, are also added to this transcription for wide ranges of colours and sonorities, but it's still possible to be performed without them. The famous trombone solo in the middle, given to the 2nd in the original orchestra score, is given to the 1st in this transcription.
