Among the 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies composed by Franz List for solo piano, the second is the most famous. Franz Doppler orchestrated six pieces from the set including the second; however, another orchestral arrangement by Karl Müller-Berghaus, which this transcription is based on, is more freuently performed.
Either the original piano version or an orchestra version, The Second Hungarian Rhapsody is not only played in concert halls, but also used in movies and animated cartoons.
