Any mature concert band must already have a transcription of the famous Light Cavalry Overture by Franz von Suppé in its music library. However, this transcription is unique as it is scored for a small band without losing the essence of the original orchestra score.
The parts in bold are necessary for this transcription; in other words, this transcription can be performed with as few as 13 players. This transcription is also suitable for a medium sized, or even large band for outdoor performance.
Parts No. 21–35 are optional. No. 23–34 are transposed from the original parts which are indicated in brackets, with or without modification.
