In this transcription, the first two movements are transposed half-step up from the original keys.

 

The 2nd piccolo is used for only 2 measures before [49] in the 2nd movement.

Should there be an absence of English horn, one or both bassoons, cues are given to the1st clarinet and the bass clarinets to form a woodwind quartet.

Below are possible alternatives:

1) No English Horn

    Two 1st Clarinets + 1st & 2nd Bassoons

2) No English Horn/ 2nd Bassoon

    Two 1st Clarinets + Bass Clarinet + 1st Bassoon (to play the 2nd cue)

3) No 2nd Bassoon

    English Horn + 1st Clarinet + Bass Clarinet (upper notes) + 1st Bassoon (to play the 2nd cue)

4) No Bassoons

    English Horn + 1st Clarinet + 2 Bass Clarinets or 1 Bass Clarinet (upper notes) and Contrabass (Contra-Alto) Clarinet

5) No English Horn/ Bassoons

    Saxophone Quartet (The saxophones are to be played only as a saxophone quartet, and no part should be combined with the woodwind quartet above.)
